Memorious News: Sweet 16!

Dear Readers,

Happy Poetry Month from Memorious! We’re delighted to bring you our latest issue. And yes, it is our sixteenth.

Our issue 16 cover is the work of Austrian artist Elisabeth Schmirl. Inside, you’ll find poetry by Nickole Brown, Eamon Grennan, Bradley Harrison, Timothy Liu, Robert Murdock, Bill Nuemire, Eric Pankey, Cecily Parks, Joyce Peseroff, Nancy Reddy, Kent Shaw, Ralph Sneeden, Matthew Thorburn, and Caki Wilkinson.

For fiction, we have short fiction from Margaret Luongo and Laurie Stone, as well as a short story from Nathaniel Bellows that is part of a group of linked stories appearing in such journals as Guernica, Narrative, Redivider, and Post Road.

We’re also pleased to announce the winner of our 2nd annual art song contest. In case you missed the news, poet Katie Peterson will have her work set by guest composer Luke Gullickson. The work will be performed live as part of the Singers On New Ground series in Chicago, and a recording of the work will be available in issue 17 of Memorious.  We will also publish poems by finalists Sean Hill, Ishion Hutchinson, and Hyejung Kook. (If you missed last year’s music, visit Issue 14 to listen to composer Randall West’s settings of Jill McDonough’s poems.)

If you’d like to keep up with the blog and with Memorious news, join our fan page on Facebook  or follow us on twitter at MemoriousMag. When you join us, it helps us stay connected to you until the next issue, and, well, it makes us happy to have our community of readers grow.

Happy Spring, dear Readers. Pour yourself a smoothie (or whatever you think is in that blender), and open the issue: we hope you’ll enjoy it! And we welcome hearing your comments about the new issue.

Cheers,

Rebecca Morgan Frank
